Egg Yolk: Best Protein Source

Many people who are health and body conscious, doesn't eat egg yolk and prefer the white because they believe the yolk has too much cholesterol. This is true but in spite of that the egg yolk is the only balanced food with protein. It has all the needed proteins our body needs. It contains the four fat soluble vitamins, A, E, D and K. Since protein is the building blocks of our body, it is important to get enough of it. One can't live on carbohydrates alone, but you can live with enough protein in the body.

Skin is predominantly protein. Protein molecules are not absorbed through the epidermis into underlying tissues. So, you need to supply proteins through the foods you eat daily. A deficiency of proteins is indicated by the skin becoming slack and loose. Thus, adequate protein is necessary for healthy hair, skin, teeth and nails and for firm skin tissues.

Best Acne Cure: Aspririn Mask

Acne Defined

Acne vulgaris
is an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots, plukes or zits.

The condition is most common in puberty. It is considered an abnormal response to normal levels of the male hormone testosterone. The response for most people diminishes over time and acne thus tends to disappear, or at least decrease, after one reaches his or her early twenties. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take for it to disappear entirely, and some individuals will continue to suffer from acne decades later, into their thirties and forties and even beyond. Acne affects a large percentage of humans at some stage in life. That is why is has long been studied to find a cure for this skin condition.

My Experience with Aspirin as a facial mask.

While searching the internet, I've come across this site about the use of Aspirin as a cure for acne. At first, I was hesitant to use but then I gave it a try. And guess what? It works! It really does. After just a week of using, most of my acne has disappeared and my skin became clearer.

Preparation:

1. Use 2 to 5 tablets of Aspirin (you can use the cheap ones: Aspilet or Bayer. You can buy it at 1.85 pesos at Mercury or Rose Pharmacy).

2. Put it in a cup, a small bowl or better yet a saucer. Then drop a small amount of water to soak the tablets. You don't have to crush it because the water will dissolve the aspirin.

3. Put it in the face concentrating on the areas that has acne. The forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.

4. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

5. Apply a moisturizer.

Tips: You can also use yogurt, glycerin, oatmeal and honey and mix it with the aspirin.

Top Five Foods for Healthy Skin

1. Green Tea
-- Green tea is rich in antioxidants that reduce inflammation and protect cell membranes. It has been proven to reduce the damage of sunburns and overexposure to ultraviolet light, which in turn reduces the risk of skin cancer. Green tea is also high in polyphenols -- compounds that eliminate cancer-causing free radicals.

Recent research by scientists at the Medical College of Georgia shows that the polyphenol most abundant in green tea -- EGCG -- also acts as a "fountain of youth" of sorts for skin by reactivating dying skin cells. In addition to its skin-healthy properties, green tea is also high in vitamins C, D and K, as well as riboflavin, zinc, calcium, magnesium and iron.

2. Salmon
-- Salmon -- along with other fatty fish, walnuts and flaxseed -- is high in healthy fatty acids that are key for achieving healthy skin. Essential fatty acids such as omega-3s help keep cell membranes healthy by keeping out harmful substances as well as allowing nutrients to enter cells and exit with waste products. Omega-3s also reduce the body's production of inflammatory agents that can damage the skin.

Increasing consumption of omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods such as salmon will help keep the skin supple and youthful. A 1:1 ratio of omega-6 fatty acids to omega-3s is ideal, but the ratio in the typical American diet is more like 20:1, so boosting consumption of salmon and other oily fish can help bring that ratio closer to 1:1. Salmon is also rich in protein, potassium, selenium and vitamin B12.

3. Blueberries
-- Blueberries are considered by many experts to be the highest food source of antioxidants, which target free radicals that can wreak havoc on skin cells. The antioxidants and phytochemicals (plant sources of nutrition) in blueberries neutralize DNA-damaging free radicals, reducing cell damage. When skin cells are protected from damage and disintegration, the skin looks younger for longer. Blueberries are also an excellent source of soluble and insoluble fiber, vitamin C, manganese, vitamin E and riboflavin.

4. Carrots
-- Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A, which is a required nutrient for healthy skin. They also contain high levels of antioxidants, which prevent free radical damage of skin cells. Vitamin A is required for developing and maintaining skin cells, and a deficiency of the vitamin can cause dry skin. Carrots are also a superior source of fiber, biotin, vitamins K, C and B6, potassium and thiamine.

5. Water
-- Drinking plenty of water -- at least your individual minimum intake -- will help keep your skin young and healthy-looking. Water in caffeinated or sugary beverages does not count; water intake must be from pure, clean water, which rejuvenates skin cells. Water both hydrates cells and helps them move toxins out and nutrients in. Nutrition expert Liz Lipski, PhD, CCN, says when the body is properly hydrated, it sweats more efficiently, which helps keep the skin clean and clear.

Can't Sleep?

Since I can remember, I'ved always had trouble sleeping. I cannot say entirely that it is my fault. I am always on night duty at my work, so I always get home very late. My regular sleeping time is between 1am to 3am. Sometimes I go to bed earlier than that but I just can't sleep, I just lay there. I'ved thought of ways to solve this problem and with the help of research, these are the solutions I'ved come up:

Tips in having a good night sleep:

1. Avoid before-bed snacks, particularly grains and sugar. Do not eat too much during
dinner.

2. Don't drink water or any fluids two hours before bed time. This will keep you up
in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. If you have already drink a lot
of fluids, make sure to go to the bathroom before you get to bed.

3. No TV before bedtime.

4. Sleep in total darkness. Turn off all the lights, unless you're afraid of the
dark. Even a tiny light in the room can disrupt your rest.

5. Exercise. It is always the best cure for insomnia.

6. Check your bed, make sure it is neat, to avoid itchiness and there's nothing more
comfortable than a clean and fresh bed.

7. Establish a bedtime routine. Try to go get to bed as early as possible and do not
change your bedtime.

8. Put socks on. Due to the fact that they have the poorest circulation, the feet
often feel cold before the rest of the body.

9. Try to listen to white noise or relaxation cds. If you still can't sleep, try to
write down your thoughts and keep a journal.

10. Just relax. Keep your mind off work and other problems. Clear the mind and think
of happy thoughts.

That's all...goodnight!

Disturbia movie trailer

TomKat making out in public

Disturbia 2007

Just finished watching it last night...very good movie. It's about a teenager named Kale (Labeouf from Even Stevens) who has been under house arrest for 3 months for punching his Spanish professor in the face. Since he cannot leave the house, the police has attached a sort of anklet in his feet and it sends a signal if he tries to leave their house. Out of boredome, he watches their neighborhood through their windows. He then suspects that Mr. Turner one of his neighbors is a serial killer based on the news his seen on TV that a serial killer is on the loose driving a mustang with a dent. He convinces his friend Ronnie and their new neighbor Ashley to spy on the guy. It has effective thrills and suspense moments and also funny scenes. This movie has it all. Romance, comedy, thrills and action. Plus the actors were great.

An Encounter with a foreigner

I was at work this morning when a foreigner just walked inside the cafe. He was wearing a "malong" sort of a kilt, a Scottish traditional garment. In our country the Philippines, a "malong" is also a traditional garment used mainly by women. Anyway, I noticed right away that this ONE foreigner is a "lisang", in other words he's a bit of a sloppy. He has this accent which is not American. I think his from Europe. He looked at me and said: "Hi, can I use Internet?" then I said yes. He looked tired and when he saw the bottle of water in my table, he grabbed it and asks if he could have it. I said no because it's mine. He said he'd paid 20 pesos, again I said no. I point him out to the store outside. So, he got back in and he had a COKE in his hand.

I give him the computer number on which he will be using the internet. Our cafe has booths for every computer and has a door in it. Funny thing is that he said, he doesnt want to be locked in. I said of course not, we don't lock clients inside, it's up to them if they want to close the booth.

He was kind of annoying, he keeps standing up and coming over to the counter and asks too many questions. When he sat, I noticed that he was just wearing brief inside the malong...:) Strange man...

Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer

reason, season, lifetime

People always come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
or to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they just walk away.
Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON,
it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
And like Spring turns to Summer and Summer to Fall,
the season eventually ends.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway);
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas in your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being part of my life.
